“Found” Artifacts

Promotional products have been a way of advertising businesses since the late 1800s, and Henry Fassbender was one of many to buy into this form of advertising. I am lucky to own two of his advertising pieces, although neither come directly from the Fassbenders, but are “Found Artifacts.” This Newton Manufacturing Co. thermometer/calendar is most likely from the late 1920s, based on inscription: “Compliments of WHITE CLOVER CREAMERY, H. J. Fassbender, Prop., Hollandtown, Wis.” Further “evidence” of the date is this picture of Henry’s youngest daughter, Rosie, with the piece clearly hanging on the wall above her head.Hollandtown_1926
